About this deal

It was great to watch her start to recover and grow, as the locals welcomed her in, but then things started to kick off. One of my Facebook book clubs chose this for the November book, and I was happy because I already had it in my Kindle library. There were a lot of characters and I was a little nervous that I wouldn’t remember who was who, but I worried unnecessarily, everyone was easy to remember due to their different ways etc. While a few cozy elements are present – small-town setting, amateur detective, quirky characters, murders take place off screen – The Book Club Murders felt more like a traditional murder mystery. They’re depicted as tough, unwielding, no-nonsense types, who delight in cutting corners and have little or no sense of humour.

From hospital murders to explosive court battles, the Women's Murder Club takes on their most harrowing challenge yet. Dimitri, the hair dresser and one of her best friends, is Charlie's staunch supporter and a real hero. The main character in this story does do some investigating on her own like you would find in a cozy mystery but a lot of the book also involves the police investigation that you would find in a normal thriller.I like Leslie Nagle writing style that makes her readers laugh and cry while reading The Book Club Murders. Charlotte "Charley" Carpenter has settled into life in Oakwood, OH, living in her childhood home with her ailing father Bobby and his nurse Lawrence. The Book Club Murders by Leslie Nagel is only the first book in this mystery series but it's one you can really sink your teeth into.

On the downside, while I liked Marc as the cop well enough, the romantic relationship felt false and flighty. com The site has information on her book, a recommended reading list, and even some great writing tips! There is a budding romance between Marc and Charley (Charlotte), but they have their moments showing their true selves to each other. The flashbacks keeps the action direct, rather than making us learn everything retrospectively through the character’s narration. While I loved the way the complications associated with such a coming-out were incorporated in the plot, I also feel like the transition was (mostly) portrayed in too idealistic a way.As we get to know them better, all manner of skeletons begin tumbling willy nilly out of their closets. I loved how this starts off with a lovely, quiet, sleepy little seaside town, giving chilled cosy mystery vibes, but soon ramps up to being quite a dark and violent murder mystery. I always enjoy getting in on the ground floor of a new series and this one gets off to a great start. The romance – whew – the chemistry is through the roof, and the author does a fantastic job creating a tangible electricity between them.
