About this deal

I love this whisky because it's exactly what you'd want and expect. I have a hard time imagining anyone being outright disappointed by this dram. When I drink this, two things occur to me. Neat - right off the bat I get the same vegetal smell as I get from the Bladnoch 12. Could this be the effect of sulfur? I’ll give it 10 min in the glass uncovered, then cover it for 5 and see what happens. Finish: starts sweet finishes dry with some smoke and spice, lovely. With Water bit more smoke and spice, almost peppery We always do our very best to achieve our stated delivery times but please note we can not be responsible for circumstances beyond Tanners control including, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions and supplier and carrier difficulties. Delivery to other areas - additional charges

The nose is warm, with pine nuts, glace cherries, heather, just a hint of smoke, and heavy vanilla fruitiness. There is more than a hint of Christmas Cake about this one. With a few drops, the heather strengthens, and a honey, nutty note comes through to complement the rich fruit cake smell. Pallet: pears, fruitcake, malt spice, light toffee, almonds and raisins, just a suggestion of peat and smoke too. With Water everything from neat but turned up a notch, peat is more evident, lovely caramel as well. As you pour a glass of Glenfarclas 15 Year Old, you'll be greeted by a fresh and beautifully light aroma. The scent of sherried fruit fills the air, combined with a tempting spicy sweetness and a hint of sappy oak. Each sip reveals a full-bodied whisky with delightful sherried fruit flavors, complemented by the presence of oak and delicious sweet sensations. The finish is long and flavorsome, leaving a lingering spiciness on your palate. John Grant and his son George ran Glenfarclas until John’s death in 1889. Sadly, George died only a year later in 1890, and his oldest sons John and George took over. The George/John pattern of inheritance will continue for the next 120+ years. An Antiquated Distillery In the mouth: The palate is similarly gently understated, feeling a bit thin at points. Sumptuous fruit to start, again with very ripe red apples. This turns quite juicy for a split second at midpalate before evolving a dirty, musty, slightly stagnant or tired woodiness. This has an aftertaste of salted nuts, more rich fudge flavors, a stale ashiness, and a slightly soapy texture. ConclusionPlease note, whilst the majority of parcels sent on this service are received next day, this is not guaranteed. Glenfarclas don’t count themselves as a Speyside distillery. They tend to describe themselves as Highlands, but even that term is somewhat vague when you consider how big the Highlands are. Glenfarclas is just Glenfarclas. Speyside is a relatively recent term, used to market Scotch whisky. At the time of Alfred Barnard’s visit around 1886, he notes the region as Glenlivet. The nose immediately lets on what you're in for. Sweet honeyed dates and perhaps a small hint of peat. Traditional Christmas pudding and sweet dried figs. It really is quite a sweet treat. Nose: Wonderful and sweet. Nougat and vanilla wrapped in milk chocolate laced with orange zest. Develops depth from dates and salty caramel, which is tangy with orange peel towards the end of the breath. Without prejudice to the section Liability below, the Service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance, updates, etc. We shall make reasonable efforts to inform you of any unavailability due to maintenance or updates. With water, the fresh green grape aromas pop out of the glass alongside some sherry notes. There are definitely some nutty notes as well as honey wafting out of the glass. The smoke is slightly more prominent, but we aren’t talking Laphroaiggian levels here. The palate is more buttery and fruity, and less cakey with water. The finish reveals icing sugar, vanilla frosting and a touch of orange zest bitterness with water. This is tasty both ways, but I prefer it neat.

Finish: The finish is a bit short, but the fact I held this whisky in my mouth for quite a while is probably a factor there! Otherwise, this has an incredibly wonderful finish, releasing sweet dates, almonds, and some pepper.

The 15 is wonderfully rich, with good body. In my opinion, it is the strongest of the Glenfarclas range – along with the 105. Excellent whisky. About as good as you can buy in this price range. The oldest record of Glenfarclas as a distillery is a painting from 1791, which shows a still house and malt barns in addition to the farm buildings. You can see an image of the painting here. Legal Since 1836 I opened this whisky on Christmas eve and how appropriate it was. A sweet, full-bodied and warming whisky perfect for a night together with your loved ones while a blizzard rages outside the window.

Glenfarclas 15 Year Old Scotch Whisky : The Whisky Exchange

Finish: vanilla, oak spices (nutmeg more than cloves), more sultanas, barley, a weak Earl Grey tea note (is it pretentious to say bergamot?) lingers alongside a touch of smoke. I like Glenfarclas. It’s an independent distillery, still family-owned despite massive conglomeration in the rest of the scotch industry, and pretty much just continues doing what it’s always done: make solid, dependable whisky at an acceptable price. Other than the vintage-dated Family Casks and the value-priced NAS 105, Glenfarclas doesn’t release flashy bottlings every year with high pricetags and no age statements. It doesn’t name whisky after trips to space or antarctic digs. It’s also the last distillery in Scotland to use exclusively direct-fired stills. There’s value in doing things the old way, and in not following trends like whiskymaking sheep. There you go, that’s your tagline: The folks at Glenfarclas are not just whiskymaking sheep. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. If Glenfarclas isn’t at the top of your personal Speyside league table, I’d urge you to do as I did: reconnect with an open mind, alone or with friends, and savor some of these highly enjoyable drams. In 1895, the Grant Family would go into partnership (50%) with Pattison, Elder and Co, forming the Glenfarclas-Glenlivet Distillery Company. Glenfarclas used the funds provided by the new arrangement to rebuild the distillery.

Glenfarclas 15 year old – Review

All of the flavours dance around each other so seamlessly that I find myself searching for something distinctive about it. Perhaps the prominent berries? Perhaps the Christmas cake flavours? It's incredibly flavourful but not incredibly distinctive because the distillers have done almost TOO good a job at finding the perfect balance. How cynical of me to seek out flaws in (near) perfection. Fantastic sherried bliss. If you want balance, look here. Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. The Glenfarclas 15. No color added, bottled at 46% instead of 43% like most of their standards because apparently that's the way the founder enjoyed it. Palate: Sour cherry enters sweet with vanilla; cinnamon progresses to gingery; and finishes with sweet orange and serious, deep walnut (combination of its skins and its toasted flesh).
