About this deal

The repellent comes is 50g sachets that you then add to water and that gives you a fair old amount to pour/spray around your garden.

Scoot comes in 50g sachets of powder that should be mixed with water. 9 litres of water added to 50g of Scoot will cover an area of up to 16sqm (172sq ft). There are a number of options available, from ultrasound deterrents to simple spike matts, and with each possible fox deterrent or repellant there are pros and cons, not to mention a selection of different brands and products to wade through to find those hidden gems. This style of fox repellant is very versatile, being quite easy to cut into the desired shape with scissors, or to be connected with other strips to cover larger surfaces. I personally hooked a few together to cover a good-sized area I’d just planted seeds in and it took very little preparation or messing around, something I was very happy about. Anyway, we applied a lot of this stuff all over my garden and sure enough, the next night or two there were no signs of the fox. However, on day three a big fresh ‘hello pie’ was left on the grass. In the absence of observed scenting behaviour, perimeters are a good starting point and anywhere fox scent can be smelled. Also any areas of "scorching" on lawns which will identify areas where marking is a factor and where persistant fouling is noted. The FoxWatch is a very simple little device that lets out high-pitched blasts of ultrasonic noise each time a fox crosses the motion sensor. A water ‘scarecrow’ is a popular animal deterrent that connects to a garden hose and springs into life by spraying a jet of water every time something crosses the motion sensor. However, the sensors don’t appear to be infrared and only get triggered by motion, so you might get some false alarms from trees and such blowing in the wind.

This message from Abigail, worrying about inadvertently scaring her cats while trying to deter foxes, is a very common concern. Feeling a little annoyed, but undeterred ourselves, we set about spraying all over again, but this time we made sure to keep applying the Scoot fox repellent every evening. This time it worked wonders, and after two weeks of my friend spraying, he stopped and hasn’t had any problems since. Best scent based repeller: Scoot 50g Fox Repellent Sachets– worked a treat in combination with the Pestbyte. We mixed up the fox repellent and put this stuff everywhere we could think of: hedges, flower beds, around the top and bottom of the fence, we weren’t taking any chances. And this brings me to one of the best features of this fox repellent, the fact it can be used anywhere and not cause damage to your plants, grass, seeds, or anything else. The FoxWatch is durable, safe and humane for all animals and is something you can set and forget without ongoing attention or maintenance. As foxes are especially persistent, the FoxWatch acts as a good automatic deterrent that can be left on all the time (with mains adapter or battery), deterring foxes regardless of the time of day or if you’re in or out. It’s a completely reasonable thing to say. Of course you don’t want to accidentally harm your cat in your attempts to keep foxes away. A great alternative to the Pestbye ultrasound fox repellant is this very similar product from Volador, which tries to take a step up from its rival by improving on a few features. You can fix them to ledges using screws, nails or a strong adhesive to create a very uninviting obstacle course along the top of your fences and walls. Attaching them to a piece of wood to be placed on the floor where the fox jumps down is also effective. They’re easy to cut down to fit a shorter or narrower space if necessary.

Pump action pressure sprayers also have a spraying wand and trigger, allowing you to spray the solution evenly around your garden and in hard-to-reach areas without much effort. If you’ve ever wondered why a fox chooses to poo right in the centre of your lawn or on a paving slab or patio, marking territory is the likely reason. These prominent places provide the maximum opportunity for neighbouring foxes to smell the message and realise they need to stay away. The most convenient way to distribute Scoot around your garden is to use a Pump Action Pressure Sprayer [aff]. Scoot is totally safe for use in gardens, on plants and edible crops and is humane, bio-degradable and very effective. In fact, the purpose of a good quality fox deterrent is to change the fox’s attitude to your garden from somewhere that it has free reign to do as it pleases to an environment full of uncertainty, doubt and potential danger.
