The manufacturer refers to this as True Wireless Stereo, which effortlessly provides sound for every party. One word can describe the JBL PartyBox 710, and that word is BIG. The 710 is no joke; it is a monster and weighs in at over 60lbs. For some perspective, the 710 is almost as tall as my 7-year old daughter and weighs more than her. Then there is the light show – and even though the 710 isn’t a full panel light show, I like it better than the 1000’s. It has more strobe functions, including colored strobes, and feels like it projects more of a club vibe than that of the 1000.

When it comes to being the king, the Partybox 1000 takes the crown. It is a massive speaker system weighing in at 76.5 lbs (34.7 kg) and it stands at over 43″ inches tall (105 cm). I like the 710 light show better for that reason. Its a personal preference, but it just feels more about making the party cool, then making the speaker look cool. JBL is an audio brand with loads of fantastic speakers to its name, from the tiny JBL Go 3 to the small but mighty JBL Charge 5 and the weather-resistant JBL Xtreme 3 - JBL features heavily in T3’s guide to the best Bluetooth speakers. The JBL Partybox 710 is a whole different ball game though, it’s a huge piece of kit with equally huge sound and it even boasts an impressive RGB light show. You might not care for a light show in which case the best wireless speaker you can buy is the T3 five-star rated Naim Mu-So 2nd Gen. The sound is huge and it looks super sophisticated too. However, everything else about the 710 is pretty much the same as the 310 and 110. The 710 has 2 quarter inch inputs so that you can plug in a pair of microphones if you want to do Karaoke. Which I’m sure your neighbors are going to be so happy. I know I am. And if you want, you can play around with the bass, treble and echo on your microphone. However just keep in mind this will only affect the sound of your microphone not your music. And there’s also these DJ effects buttons. Now personally I wouldn’t use them… but they’re there. And you can customize them through the Partybox App.On the top panel, there are a few different buttons and dials to control the speaker as well as a handy slot to hold your phone. You’ll be able to adjust the bass, treble and echo using the three main dials, and there’s a Bass Boost button as well. All of the materials used for construction are solid and of excellent quality; this speaker does not feel cheap in any way. In the front of the JBL PartyBox, 710 are two giant 8-inch woofers, and two 2.75-inch tweeters flanked by LED light strips and LED lights scattered inside the speaker grille. The JBL logo is placed center and is not gaudy or overbearing. Outside of the thumping bass, the music sounds fantastic. It’s clean and clear, you can hear each instrument as well as every lyric, and it’s got tonnes of energy to it as well. It’s a party speaker through and through. When it's switched off, it's a bit of an eye-sore but when it's on, the RGB lights are mesmerising as they strobe and pulse to the beat. You can literally turn your living room into a nightclub with this speaker if you have space for it. And it’s great that you can hook up your guitar and microphone up to it, there’s so much fun to be had with this. JBL Partybox 710 review: also consider You’ll be able to use a dial on the top to switch through light settings or use the PartyBox app. There are a few presets that pulse and strobe different colours, dancing to the beat, but you can also create your own through the app.But now let's talk about the light feature on this speaker, cause in general… JBL has some very impressive light features. Now for starter’s you can control this light feature from JBL’s Partybox app. And this light feature is an upgraded version of the light feature found on the 110. As in the light rings that surround the woofers are conjoined… unlike the light rings on the 310 which are separated. But the 710 also has additional colored LED’s imbedded into its face which does give it like a star effect… and there’s also these colored LED strips on either side which aren’t found on the these other Partybox’s. Overall, the light feature on the 710 looks amazing… but personally I really wish the tweeters also had light rings around them. I don’t know… I just really like the look of the illuminated tweeters on the 110. It comes with a 2m power cable to plug it in, and when you do, you’re in for a treat. Below the speaker grille, there’s a colourful RGB light show that will literally wow you when you first see it. I sat and watched it for a while, it’s mesmerising. Two joined up circles of flashing and strobing lights illuminate the room and they dance along to the music. It’s really cool. Neither the 710 nor the 1000 have batteries, so neither can be considered true “portable” speakers however both have wheels and handles, and can be fairly easily moved from one place to the next. That all adds up to 1100 watts of face melting power – that stays clean and distortion free, even at max volume. (That can’t be said for other brands I’ve tried.)

If you want a light show and incredibly powerful sound then there isn’t anything else like the JBL Partybox 710. JBL does sell smaller versions of the speaker like the JBL Partybox 310.
