About this deal

cause yeah, you just experienced something great, something huge and it's something that you secretly hoped it would be cause it's a work by one of your favourite authors, yeah, talking about you, Suzanne Wright and i’m not entirely sure when it changed, but somewhere between that and the 40% mark, that went from a hopeful 5 to a tentative 3. I can’t say I loved him but I was able to like him enough to go on reading. ( Don’t misunderstand, he is just too alpha for me – too rough and too possessive sometimes, that’s all - no other problem about him). Jude's life has gone to plan. She's a geriatric doctor, about to be married. Liam's life has not gone to plan, but then Liam never had a plan. Until now . . . Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Reading and discussing with friends adds to my enjoyment and my experience here was no exception. Jayme and I cruised through this together and were aligned in our thoughts - so no dissension regarding how wonderful this book was! If you've been following me for a while then you know I can't fault Suzanne Wright. She is my drug of choice and I love ODing on her. Too much? I can't tone it down, sorry not sorry. Like I've said before SW never lets me down and she can have my hard-earned money for every book she publishes. (insert take my money gif here). the first time they have sex, it’s in the kitchen. okay, whatever. but out of nowhere. while cleaning up from dinner. absolutely zero foreplay. no mood or anything. This is my first Nicci French book, and I'm excited to read more. I loved the writing. A perfect example of less is more. The result: spooky af, poignant, rhythmic. The writing was akin to Iain Reid, who evokes emotions with limited, fragmented prose. The storytelling was also giving me major Sharon Bolton vibes, but without the thriller aspect. not gonna lie, i don't really know Dane that much and had a hard time connecting with him since there's barely interaction/dialogue with him with Vienna in the beginning (especially since this whole book is only in h's pov) but ummmmm once he pulled this move:

In the early eighties she taught English Literature in Sheffield, London and Los Angeles, but moved into publishing in 1985 with the launch of Women's Review, a magazine for women on art, literature and female issues. Dane was a very engrossing character. An alpha male who never showed emotions, private person, very possessive, intelligent and successful, didn’t open up to people and always got what he wanted. That said, THE FAVOUR unfortunately turned out to be one of my least favourite books by the author team, partly because believing the main character’s actions and motivations stretched my ability to suspend disbelief way past its limits. Maybe it would have worked better for me had Jude not been a doctor. How did this indecisive, insecure and naïve person ever get through medical school? Medicine is a science, it’s about trouble shooting and problem solving, and it involves logical thought processes. But here is Jude, bumbling her way from one disaster into the next and making one terrible decision after another. I think the only way I could have believed Jude’s actions would have been either a) if there was an implicit threat to Jude if she didn’t agree to the “favour”; or b) if Jude was a totally different personality type (i.e. an arty / spiritual person believing in karma or a person undergoing a deep personal crisis such as substance addiction / bereavement etc). My only criticisms were that the story got a little repetitive in the middle (a reoccurring ex and the spreading of misinformation) and the villains of the story were kind of OTT and really petty. This was dysfunctional family to the extreme. Granted, I personally have dysfunctional relatives that haven't grown out of their high school phase, so I'm willing to let this slide. This man's past reads like a young and restless episode....I mean being a manwhore is one thing why do I need the details man

Well this book was one of my most anticipated read of 2023. I enjoyed it a lot but not the way I thought I would considering it had one of my favourite trope "Marriage of Convenience". The start was really good and captivating because of how the things escalated but then it just got boring and repetitive. But I liked the last 30% of the book so much because of Dane and Vienna's sweet and adorable moments. In the start Dane literally treated her as some thing he owned but thank god he changed that behaviour later because I would have hated him if there was no character development in that matter. Don't get me wrong I love possessive man but he was just way too possessive possessive. But the most adorable thing about this book was when Dane decided that he does wants a future with Vienna and he even wants to have kids with her. Books where the main character who is against having kids in future but ends up having lots of them always melts my heart. And truly Dane and Vienna deserve all this happiness. I loved this book so much! That prologue with Dane putting Vienna’s ex in his place was everything. We love a hero who stands up for his wife!!! Thanks to St. Martins Press, NetGalley and author Nora Murphy for this ARC. I’ve given my opinions freely and honestly. It’s due to be published on May 31, 2022.i’m unsure if it’s bc he calls her that in FRONT of everyone (bc i haaate PDA) or it was just cringe worthy. I had less issues with the ‘baby girl’ thing when they’re intimate with each other in private tho 🤷🏻‍♀️ He calls in his favor and makes the one year marriage of convenience offer, she says he has a high sex drive so he won't be able to stay celibate for the year.....yet she will?? The Favor was filmed in 1990, [2] but went into wide release in the United States and Canada on April 29, 1994, owing to Orion's bankruptcy in 1991. [3] It was released to home video on the DVD format for Region 1 on December 29, 2001, through MGM Home Entertainment. [3] Reception [ edit ]

BRINGING DANGER CLOSE TO HOME . . . THE GRIPPING NEW THRILLER FROM BESTSELLING AUTHOR NICCI FRENCH, shortlisted for the 2023 Ned Kelly Awards for Best International Crime Fiction Turns out shortly before his murder he chose Jude as the executor of his will which has everyone baffled including Jude herself. He also left her his favorite bowl. Yup, a bowl, and his girlfriend is not too pleased about this because she loves that bowl. 🥣 = 😡 Leah Dawson finds herself at a new liquor store every few days. Her eyes easily recognize the Grey Goose vodka label situated on the shelf in her favorite aisle. She can't afford to leave a trail these days. So Leah plays a game with herself and pays with cash. She's lost her job at a Baltimore law firm under unfortunate circumstances. Her trial lawyer husband, Liam, looks at her with disgust these days......and that forces her to drink all the more......to blur out her severe unhappiness with booze at the ready.

Then we're introduced to Liam's housemates, an eccentric cast of characters, and Jude is mesmerized by these lunatics. Like, what? She finds them all so mysterious and intriguing, and tall - apparently they are all so tall that they make her feel like a tiny little girl. I can't make this shit up. This is mentioned several times. I'd tried to make use of every room in the oversized house-even the gym, though I had a genuine allergy to exercise." Both Vienna and Dane have a sad past. Different but still sad. The way they act now depends heavily on the way they were treated in the past. That was very understandable. And I really like that the book has a well-crafted story that made sense. A note about Crude: I didn't consider this a crude story, but some of their sexy times include terms in, um, the vernacular. If you're particularly sensitive to crude language, that may be enough. I didn't think it was, but I'll admit I'm not a great gauge for that aspect of stories. At any rate, none of it was degrading or belittling, for all of the note below, so be reassured if that was a suspicion or concern. Dane has all the respect for Vienna you could hope for and that is always at the forefront of his interactions with her, even in his head.

Nora Murphy creates a raw and a revealing journey into the lives of two separate women who bear the imprint of coercive control in their marriages. Neither even knew of each other's existence much less the awareness that they seemed to be living parallel lives. And like all things in the Universe, paths will transect when all the stars are aligned. Life is going pretty well for Dr. Jude Winter. She has a rewarding job in the geriatric division of a London hospital and is looking forward to her wedding to fiancé Matt in two weeks time.

again, there was just a lot of family drama that at times it kinda veers away from the romance which is a little annoying since, because of telling > showing and a bunch of inner monologue, i didn't feel any satisfaction towards the sexual tension and chemistry sometims. the romance felt like breadcrumbs or a side plot.
