As for the story, there were a few small loose ends, I thought -- things that got left off (e.g. tiny purse), and things that came out of nowhere. Pete didn't like Dennis and Annie didn't like him much either. He just wanted money and would comprise his morals to get it. Pete didn't like the fact that he talked about himself so much and what he had. He didn't like the fact that Dennis seemed jealous of what Pete had and made comments about his wealth. It's a really compelling, exciting series and a good story to watch, but it's really about a mother's love and I hope that's what people take away from it,” she declared. The story built to a very rewarding finish. The author stays consistent in her writing of beautiful Regency language. She never falters. Her original characters stay true to their nature throughout the trilogy and her new characters are charming and well written. All three books are exceptional and I highly recommend them. I think the good things about Desperate Measures are the dynamics that are created between Jasmine and Jafar. It was a great relationship and I loved the moments they shared, especially when there was raw emotion with them dealing with it all. I love how Jasmine questions a lot of what was going on and whether it was right for her. It was great to see the ending go in a completely different direction. I appreciate the effort that was made. Serena, Mrs, Gardiner's half-sister, makes her appearance in the beginning of Volume III. It is a pleasure to learn more about her as she and Lizzy have much talking and catching up to do. Although Darcy and Lizzy do not share scenes together at the beginning of Volume III, other story lines are being developed and some are being resolved. This time was necessary for Lizzy and even Darcy, to some extent, to know and come to terms with their feelings. The development is beautifully done and makes for sparks and high emotions when they do meet. (sigh)
