About this deal

In terms of occasions, it is suitable for work (but if so, then only in a discreet dosage, as it has power), everyday life (preferably with a little more chic clothing), as well as the evening to go out.

Since reading is very helpful and promotes knowledge if you don't just read trashy novels, I was soon smarter. There’s a man who comes to mind when I wear (vintage) M7, the groundbreaking oud eau de toilette from YSL. Each and every time, I see Zinedine Zidane (or “Zizou”), the legendary football/soccer player. He is dressed in the most beautifully tailored, sleek, expensive, dark suit as he sits in the shadows on the white marbled terrace of the Monte-Carlo’s Hermitage hotel one balmy summer’s night. If anything, M7 was the first fragrance marketed as oud-centric fragrance (that is: some damp/dark woody aromachemical in the top, that is nothing close to oud, not even remotely, but that's for a different discussion). Overall, I'd define M7 as an orange-y myrrh fragrance, not at all an oud fragrance. Its box is also different; it now lists 14 ingredients instead of 4. Despite the increase in ingredients, however, the reformulated version is substantially weaker than the original, emphasizes amber over faint oud, and lasts even less time (both on my skin and on others). That said, both versions have the same dry down. I don’t agree with all parts of the comments. For one thing, I honestly don’t think M7 smells dirty in the slightest. As for animalistic, I suppose it depends on your definition of the word. M7 is not “animalic” in the real perfume sense of raunchy, skanky, intimate, sweaty, or fetid. With regard to the claim of M7 lasting for “DAYS,” I know I’m not the only person who had terrible longevity with it (though there are very few of us out there). Other than that, however, yes, this is an incredibly sensuous smell and yes, I can see how it may lead to thoughts of sex. When I entered a barber shop in Caracas in the mid-90s, I was immediately hit by a scent when I opened the door. A scent that made me think about whether I had possibly opened the wrong door, the door to another service perhaps.

The 2nd iteration was slightly lighter, hence more wearable. As if it was an EDT & the 1st was an EDP. I can't deny it, there is a certain melancholy in M7 Oud Absolu. It is not a fragrance that is sad, oh no. But due to the interplay of dry citrus fruits with the serious resins and spices, the cheerfulness is a bit cloudy and cloudy. M7 was one of the most hyped fragrances around 2008-2012. As an Arab, I didn't find it oudy. It was an ambery incensy scent with light woody sweetness, & a hefty dose of patchouli that gave it a lot of depth. The 1st version was too heavy & too mature for most to wear, inc. me, but I bought it because of the hype. It grew on me with time. Nah, I thought at first, this is supposed to be the fabric of the fabrics now, which is supposed to give modern fragrances a certain something, a woody note, even an animal touch? *sniff* Now to the eponymous oud. It is and remains something very personal. Whether you like it or not is up to you. Due to the enormous fruits, the oud is well controlled, but nevertheless it is the determining part in this fragrance. For me personally two completely different impressions remained behind.

My Account

M7 Oud Absolu fell into my hands after another test and is now an integral part of my collection and I really appreciate this fragrance.
