About this deal

Like dominoes, everything started falling down around her. Her mother happens to be down with cancer which has kept her bedridden for months. As such, at such a critical time she finds herself all alone with her troubles. She loves and loved to read and could read up to a book a day and hence, books have been a constant feature in her life over the years. The more she read, the more she felt that she needed to touch readers just like she had been touched. Trigger(s)/Content Warning(s): Drug/Alcohol Use. Violence. Murder. Death. Non/Dub Con. Branding. Forced Sex Fantasy. Breath Play. Masks. Bondage. Kidnapping.

The Ritual and Sabotage remain my favourites. I have unresolved issues with The Sinner but I like The Sacrifice even though: I'm tired of reading about fmcs who r treated like shit yet secretly enjoy all the nasty stuff that's done to them. Like yes i like me some dubcon situation and all that but when it's the same deal with all the lords, things get monotonous at this point. He believes he has done her a favor, even though she feels like she has been given a death sentence. He had refused to get married as he is still in love with her but it does seem that he wants more power and money. I had high hopes for Lake, I thought she was a strong character in the beginning, and there were times that she showed or thought of it and cheered her on. I really supported her. She really had gone through a lot, and it’s pretty understandable since she’s traumatized. In the end, I feel sorry for her. I do read about dubcon and… I love degradation, but as a cliche for me to say this, I guess for me I didn’t feel an authentic connection between both characters. (Maybe that’s just me). The way their relationship began was questionable, and I didn’t support it. In my head, I guess I kept second-guessing their relationship, but then again, it may be just me. However, they kind of both worked it out in the end. She starts to think that maybe she never wanted to see him again and that he could have never loved her. But in a cruel twist of fate, she has been handed over to him in what she believes is a heartless deal. You have Laikin Minson who is one of my favorite FMCs honestly. She manages to be badass while also being forced to marry Tyson, her sister's ex-boyfriend and alleged "murderer". I mean the dining scene alone is a perfect example of that and it is one of my favorite scenes of all time honestly.

This book has me legit questioning my sanity. We start off learning about the secret society that the mmc is a part of, “The Lords”. Then we learn about the college that this secret society pretty much owns, Barrington University, where all the rich kids end up as it is a private institution. Enter the fmc, Blakely, a rich girl who did not want to go to this university but was forced to by her parents. And in this world, as they are all “the elite”, arranged marriages are common and Blake is already promised to another and so is our mmc. But there are no contracts that are legally binding, so yeah. lol, from there, you can pretty much guess what happens. But it is a wild ride, that I was loving the entire time. Shantel Tessier’s novel “Code of Silence” is the story of a woman with a feared and dangerous husband. They had been dating for a few years but now intend to formalize their union. The Sacrifice is set in the same world as The Ritual and The Sinner. It is full of violence, suspense, and twists and turns that were not expected. I enjoyed the characters, even when I thought the heroine was acting dumb. While Lake acted like she knew it all, she knew very little. Her ignorance is what drove this story though. Tyson had so many secrets and even I was guessing, right to the end, what his motives were and why things were happening the way they were. Honestly, I wanted to rate this book higher because it was hotter and more deceptively devastating than I thought it would be. However, in the end, I felt that things were left dangling a bit. The things I did like were the beginning chapters. The way Tyson presented in about the first 7-8 chapters was dark deliciousness. I liked the cameos and how their characters aligned with the story, and how their demeanors stayed consistent to the other books.

Her nostrils flare, her pretty blue eyes swimming in tears that she hasn’t allowed to fall yet. “You’re disgusting.” I lower my lips to her ear, and whisper, “I am, but I will. make you crave everything I choose to do to you.” She finds herself at the mercy of his father’s business partner George who has a proposition for Emilee. If she agrees to his proposal, he is ready to pay for his mother’s care.

Read this book if you want to read a dark romance, with a secret society, an amazing plot, excellent character development, and relatable characters. But on my wedding day, I was handed over to another man—an even more ruthless Lord that my family hated. I’m gonna preface this by saying please do not come at me for this review. This is my personal opinion, and I respect any opinions that differ from mine. I also will not be going into extreme detail for respect for the author. I have loved all of Shantel’s previous works that I’ve read and will continue to read her books in the future. With that said, if you’d like to know more on my opinions, please dm me as I am not into author or book bashing. The Ritualhad everything in it, where the MMC has been preparing himself to be initiated in the Lords, a Secret Society at Barry University. He has done everything that is expected without question to be a Lord, and now it’s time for him to choose his Chosen during his Senior year. Every Lord gets to choose a girl from a list of girls that want to be part of the chosen. The girl Ryat Archer ends up with is already in an arranged relationship/marriage with another Lord. Ryat doesn’t care and doesn’t hesitate to ask Blakely to be his chosen. He ends up stalking her to get to know her routine and everything because he would have never considered her a choice for himself until he gets to know Blakely and realizes she’s not as innocent as everyone assumes.

As they say, nothing lasts forever. Men like him never stay with a woman like me. I’m what they use, not keep. So when he threw me away, I shouldn’t have been all that surprised. Warning: It’s definitely NSFW or with a kiddo by your side. In fact, I would highly recommend you read this one after dark to avoid side eye or awkward conversations. I have been hesitating to write a review for this book since it was the least of my favorite in the series, but Tyson’s book was my most anticipated read in the series. However, I am here to give an honest review in exchange for this ARC. Initially, I rated this as a 3, but I thought about it and narrowed it down to a 2. Please understand that we have different opinions, and please don’t be disheartened if mine is different. I respect if you love the book. I definitely respect how the book was written, and the characters came to be. But I am here for Carnage and the Spade brothers. Obsessed with this world and with all the epilogues with their kids it’s got me excited for the next gen!
