The decisions we make will most likely not have life or death implications. Lee is a former fighter pilot for the United States military, and now an instructor who teaches aspiring pilots the ins and outs of the f-35 fighter jet. He has had a very decorated military career, and sets out to write a book to educate common people how to mentally behave like a good fighter pilot. I had to go through a bunch of different decisions. I could have done what we call a sky hook of going high and trying to glide it into another base. Unfortunately, the nearest base was closed and the airfield that we were at had taken some damage from the mortars. So, we ended up doing this high-risk air refueling. We have airborne tankers, which are essentially airliners filled with fuel. I was able to refuel with just maybe a minute left. In air combat, the threats are continually changing as each side postures to protect their vulnerabilities while also exploiting their adversary’s. Decisions are continually tested and countered in the ultimate cat-and-mouse game. This continual evolution has led to a modern battlefield that is as diverse as it is dangerous.

There is one that really stands out to me that I write in the book. For a time, I flew on the graveyard shift. I would take off around 11 at night and return around four or five in the morning. One time, my wingman and I had just executed a long night mission. We were getting ready to land when suddenly it looked like a glowing orange hose was going up into the sky. What sets this book apart is its ability to resonate with a broad audience. I bought this book for €1 and was disappointed; I imagine it's much more of a let down at full price.) Being critical goes beyond describing what you have heard in lectures or what you have read. It involves synthesising, analysing and evaluating what you have learned to develop your own argument or position. I have given it a four star rating, as I found that the book was engaging most of the time. However, there were also sections of the book that made me want to skip through them. If you can stay engaged while reading lengthy sections of how-to writing, then you will be interested in the entirety of this book. Through his first seven chapters, each rife with anecdotes and references he is able to validate with detailed endnotes at the end of the book, he comes up with a summary list of five points, and then ten chapters later, the list has grown to eight practical points.
