About this deal

As whatever model you decide to buy will be spending a lot of time outdoors, choosing one that has been made from materials that are proven to be able to handle changes in weather is essential. Although weight is essential, it’s not the only important factor. Have you thought about the pole? Does the Base Fit Your Parasol Pole? These items can be bought separately, or, if you buy your parasol as part of a ‘set’, like the Jarder Libra Parasol Set, you’ll get them all together. The biggest danger to the metal frames /poles of cantilever parasols is rust and corrosion. Often, aluminium is used for a lot of outdoor furniture, such as zero-gravity chairs and sun loungers, due to its ability to fight off rust, but the quality of the aluminium used can vary a lot and some of it is very lightweight, weak, and may not be the best material for a parasol if it doesn’t have a solid base to support it. Stainless steel can help to slow down the effects of rust too, as can a good quality powder coat like the one found on the GardenCo parasol frame, or galvanised metals. Aluminium is a lightweight metal that’s strong and durable. It’s easy to move around and can stand up to British weather. However, umbrella stands made of this metal need to be firmly anchored down on their bases (sandbags, concrete stones, etc.) and are known to wave about in winds, even medium force winds.

I would have liked to have seen more than two screws on the mounting as this is effectively when most of the stability comes from, but through our tests, they held up well so I guess I can’t grumble too much. Then again, we haven’t seen how well it handles a sudden storm, and I wouldn’t leave it outside if the weather looks to be changing, just to be on the safe side.Plus, this parasol can be rotated through 360°, so you can count all-round protection against sun or rain out-there. On the other hand, the parasol is very stable whilst protection because of its full-length cross base. The parasol is also made with wind flap to enhance optimum stability during extreme windy condition. With four different colours to choose from, including beige and orange, there are options available for both the understated, modern garden and those with livelier themes. In fact, with colours like dark blue on offer as well, it’s even possible to tailor the canopy to match the colours of the flowers in the garden. They have a multitude of uses: providing shade over picnic tables, sun loungers or even paddling pools for the little ones. Best large cantilever parasol: Jarder Libre Garden parasol– sporting a heavy base when compared to the lightweight frame, keeping it very stable. The Greenbay 3m Banana Parasol requires limited assembly and can easily be put up or down depending on the weather. It’s an inexpensive option that offers great value for money.

Made from powder-coated aluminium, the frame is lightweight, rust-resistant and robust. Plus, with eight ribs to support the canopy itself, it’s strong too. Rust-resistant aluminium pole, 3x3 square metres canopy, polyester material, crank mechanism, UPF 50+ protection. DreadTech: "Fantastic umbrella, by the way. I really like the strap here, that keeps it in place. Yesterday we had like very windy night and I was afraid that it was gonna blow away, but that it's still here. Cantilever parasols are made up of two poles rather than just one. This lets the base sit at the side, extending the umbrella over your seating area. These are an excellent seating solution as they remove the central pole, allowing you to enjoy unobstructed views. When buying a cantilever umbrella, it helps to see one already assembled and see if the size of the base, pole, and canopy fit together harmoniously. There should be a balance to ensure that the umbrella is stable.Cantilever mechanism. The defining feature of a cantilever umbrella is the ability to adjust the angle to provide better shade. Thus, one of the most important quality control issues is how well the adjustment feature works. Thanks to the crank system, it can be put up and down without too much fuss and is easy to adjust depending on the current weather. The thing to remember about these bases is that, in most cases, they need to be filled with water or sand to add weight to them and so the larger the stand, the heavier it can potentially be. If we haven’t already been clear so far- the heavier the better.

Its parasol is made from heavy-duty 250g/m² polyester so you can rest easy knowing that it will last for a long time, giving you value for money. The polyester has been treated to keep away harmful UV rays that are damaging to both fabric and people. The colour will remain bright and the rain won’t get through. You stay dry under this cover during the summer downpours that always seem to appear when having a BBQ with friends and family on Sunday afternoons. You’ll still need a base to anchor it down, but the table will do most of the hard work, saving you money on a fancy weighted base. 2. Come Up With DIY Solutions Plus, it can sometimes be difficult to find complimentary items of the right size when sold separately, so it’s reassuring to know that the weights and cover will fit together from the get go, without wasting time shopping around. Another little peeve I had with this model was that the instructions don’t explain things very well. Assembly is fairly easy to work out, but how to alter the angle of the canopy, and things like that should have been made clearer. Pop your head under the canopy and you’ll see that just as much care has been taken with the supporting structure. There you’ll see a well-designed complex of aluminium support bars that have been given an extremely well-done powder coating. When compared to much cheaper models like the one from Vounot, you can see where all the extra money has been spent on the design. Right off the bat though I want you to know you need a parasol base before committing to this unit. Look for something like the one below, or even larger to support a parasol like this one-But the weight of the base you need depends on the size of your parasol’s canopy. For example, a 9-12kg base suits a 2-metre parasol, while a parasol above 4 metres will need a base of over 50kg. Here’s a detailed breakdown to help you identify the base weight you need.
