About this deal

The front of the gimbal includes the trigger and USB charging port; the follow focus knob can be mounted on either side or removed completely. The base of the gimbal connects to the battery with a very solid lever. It's also worth noting that the rubberized grip on the handle is comfortable and easy to hold, and the shape insures that you can tell which way it's oriented at any time even without glancing at it. Remote camera control Stabilization is easily the most essential feature of DJI Ronin products as it allows users to get smooth footage for professional-level results. And while 3-axis stabilization is features on both Ronin gimbals, DJI has improved the stabilization technology for DJI RS 2. The Titan Stabilization Algorithm and SuperSmooth feature offer significant upgrades compared to DJI Ronin-S. Being mostly made of metal, the Ronin-S is sturdy and solid. The downside to this is that it’s heavy. A weight of 1.8kg might not sound much, but you’ll be adding at least a camera and lens’ weight to that, plus holding it up at sometimes awkward angles.

Added video recording, autofocus, and focus pull support for Sony A7M3 and A7R3 cameras with supported E-mount lenses using the MCC-C cable. Photo capture is not currently supported. To use autofocus on the Sony A7M3 and A7R3 cameras, press down halfway on the gimbal’s camera control button. The gimbal is rated to support up to 3.6kg (7.9 lbs), nearly the same as the Ronin-M, and is capable of balancing fairly large zooms as well, including the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM, the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and the Sony E 18–200 mm F3.5–6.3 OSS LE. However, the app also helps you customise the performance of each of the three user preset modes, and opens up a range of creative shooting modes that let you shoot time-lapse, hyper-lapse and motion time-lapse videos, plus panoramic photographs. You can also use it to remotely control the gimbal’s movements, even when someone else is holding the Ronin-S or it’s perched on its tripod. It goes without saying that for each new camera and lens combination you attach to the Ronin-S, you’re going to need to run through the process again. In the video tutorial below I show you step-by-step how to set up the DJI Ronin-S and balance it with your camera and lens. For content creators that would like a lighter and more travel-friendly gimbal stabilizer, Ronin-SC is an essential addition to their equipment. Perfect for vloggers and wedding videographers who shoot on the move, Ronin-SC emerges as a strong leader in the mirrorless camera gimbal market. For more DJI Support join us onWith its strong motors and DJI’s always-impressive stabilisation algorithm, the Ronin-S does a fantastic job of keeping your camera stable. The exact speed with which the gimbal shifts the camera depends on your personal settings (input via the app), but suffice to say you can wave it around to an almost comical degree and still end up with stable, smooth footage. We understand that sometimes you need more than just a gimbal for your project. The Ronin-S offers multiple accessory mounts, providing full support for add-ons such as a microphone, LED lights, and even an external monitor. Compatibility with DJI control devices offer a wide range of control, such as Force Pro for intuitive operation and Master Wheels for precise gimbal movements. The Ronin-S also features an S-Bus port for compatibility with third-party remote controllers. Added photo capture, video recording, autofocus, and focus pull support for Nikon Z6 cameras with supported Nikkor lenses. To use autofocus on the Nikon Z6, press down halfway on the gimbal’s camera control button. The Ronin-S is currently compatible with the DJI Master Wheels and Force Pro systems, giving users additional control over the Ronin-S. It’s a fairly straightforward app on the surface, although dipping deeper into the settings reveals a wealth of options for determining the gimbal’s behaviour. Tweak a few settings and you can even make the gimbal endlessly roll as you move forward. Take a look at our sample video to see that in action.

With a weight of just 1.3 kg (2.86 lbs) and tested payload of 4.5 kg (10 lbs), DJI RS 2 offers the an exceptional weight-to-payload ratio. These are also marked upgrades from DJI Ronin-S’s weight of 1.84 kg (4 lbs) and tested payload of a 3.6 kg (8 lbs). This results in a more comfortable shooting experience and the ability to handle bigger and more advanced setups. For professional filmmakers and content producers, this DJI RS 2 upgrade gives you opportunity to use your best setups on the go. Strength - DJI recommend leaving this setting as the default. The strength setting allows you to minimize attitude error by increasing the strength. Fully assembled Ronin-S including gimbal, handle (which houses the battery) and mini-tripod. The detachable tripod collapses to create an extended handle for two-handed support. This Ronin-SC feature offers you a completely new way to control your gimbal. Users can control Ronin-SC by moving their smartphone, offering a unique, instinctive method of filmmaking. * *Force Mobile is currently only available for iOS Specifications Stiffness - Motor stiffness allows you to choose the power supplied by each motor for balance and weight. You should ensure extra margin is left for each setting for a guaranteed stability.Ronin-S and Ronin-SC both have a portable, detachable design, which makes them very convenient to transport. Three sets of these parameters can be defined and then selected from the gimbal. Each parameter sets allows you to configure different responses for each axis, letting you create presets to suit a range of shooting styles. In the DJI Ronin app, you can view and control the settings for the Ronin-S as well as the access the various shooting modes etc.

This menu allows you to complete the tuning function we discussed above as well as set specific motor parameter. The standard tripod mount means the Ronin-S’s 3-axis gimbal can accommodate almost all system cameras up to a weight of 3.6kg. It features built-in controls, allowing the user to pull focus and stop/start recording on a handful of compatible cameras. Its accessory mounts support optional add-ons such as microphones, LED lights and external monitors too. The other key element included with the Ronin-S is the extended grip which can also be used as a tripod. This allows you either hold the gimbal comfortably with two hands or set it down for a stationary shot/between takes. DJI RS 2 introduces a new feature that allows operators to instantly switch to portrait mode. This is a huge benefit for those working on social media content and other creative applications. Filter - The filter setting can help reduce high-frequency vibrations of the Ronin-S. This is done by lowering the setting to reduce the numbness of the motor.

Both Ronin gimbals feature Sport mode, giving you the opportunity to keep fast-moving subjects in frame and create unique transitions with ease. Sport mode footage | Shot on Ronin-SC Take the time to learn the setup process, especially the settings and modes and you will achieve some incredible results. Focus better on your subject with the easy-to-control Focus Wheel. When a compatible camera system connects to the Ronin-S, you can pull focus via the included cable. An optional external motor can also be added, bringing broader compatibility to all lens types while enhancing precision control. Innovative Design Once your camera and accessories are mounted, you will have to balance your Ronin-S. Follow the below steps to ensure proper balancing. Something that doesn’t disappoint is battery life, which DJI claims lasts up to 12 hours per charge. That seems about right: in all our time with the Ronin-S, the battery never dipped below two of its four indicator bars. The battery charges via the handle’s USB-C port, and it takes around 2hrs 15mins for a full top-up. DJI Ronin-S – Companion app
