About this deal

Haven’t had time to read comments yet since i was excited to see the recycle-ideas shared Link viaFB. Wanted to post on my personal uses so far and yes i will browse thru yours later when i get a chance. [Working on some homework at the moment and don’t have much downtime to dedicate right now, hee hee…] Take your scissors and cut each kitchen roll tube lengthwise. This will create the two collars that will need to go around the base of the cress. Step two: Add damp kitchen paper towels Get Halloween ready with Oceans as we show you how to make Halloween decorations using empty toilet rolls!

Begin by cutting your mirror card into three strips. The strips need to be 4.3 cm wide and 21cm long. Once cut, sellotape the three sides together to form a triangular prism. Make sure the shiniest sides face inwards. Push into kitchen roll tube so that the prism is flush at one end. It should come as no surprise that your cress will need ample sunlight for the best possible chance at growth. As we said, growing your own cress is fun! Keep it as your own enjoyable pastime, or get the whole family involved in (what can be) such an educational activity. Next time you finish a toilet roll or kitchen roll, instead of recycling the tube – save it. There’s plenty of clever ways to put them to good use in your home and garden. Take your empty toilet roll and paint the entire surface lime green. This might take two coats of paint. Once the paint has been applied, allow the roll to dry before moving on to the next step. If you don’t want to use paint, you can also simply cover your roll in green craft card.

Organise spare cords

As well as often being expensive, shop-bought Halloween decorations are not always made from sustainable materials. By opting to make your own decorations using recycled materials like empty toilet roll tubes, you are not only saving money, you’re also helping the environment. Of course, the process also doubles up as a fun and creative activity for you and your little ones! How to make Halloween toilet paper roll crafts If your desk is a mess and you can never find anything you need in your desk drawer, why not use a few toilet roll tubes to make some desk organisers for your pens and other essentials? All you need to do is spray the tube with some spray paint and add any other decoration you like, then cut a circle from another piece of cardboard to give the tube a solid base. You can cut the toilet roll tubes down to size for smaller items like pencil sharpeners. Sorry it’s been a little while in between posts….I’ve got a number of projects on the go and it’s been a bit of a struggle to actually get one finished!

Decorate the tube in any way you fancy. I just glued some colourful paper at either end (I like the fact that you could still see the actual tube). I also added a corrugated paper cuff to the middle of the tube. I did this so that you can hold the cuff with one hand and rotate the tube with the other. As a good source of vitamins C, K, and A, as well as folate, calcium, and iron, you can have confidence that your homegrown cress will make you feel good. It’s fun to grow The good news is that cardboard is one of the most easily reusable and recyclable materials going. Most cardboard is accepted for recycling by councils including boxes, toilet roll and kitchen roll tubes, corrugated cardboard, cardboard envelopes, greetings cards (without glitter), egg boxes, and brown paper. Any soiled cardboard or greeting cards covered in glitter are not usually accepted. I smash them flat and rubber-band them together since i can’t seem to use them fast enough so Thank you for sharing other ideas and just knowing i’m NOT the few who does this is great to share with my other half who thinks i’m crazy for saving them! But then again, he doesn’t practice sustainable living much either, hee hee.. Do you have any suggestions on how I can reuse cardboard tubes and maybe get the kids involved as well?

We make a ton of preschool crafts with toilet rolls and paper towel rolls. Wrapping paper rolls are great when you need a long tube, and the tubes that hold cling-wrap or aluminum foil are great when you need something a little sturdier.

To make these four Halloween classics, you will need the following items:• x4 empty toilet roll tubes. For extra tall character decorations, you can also use empty kitchen roll tubes! Because it’s fun and rewarding! This is why many people choose to grow their own everything if it’s possible to do so.
