About this deal

A beautifully illustrated anthology, it was lovely seeing Korra’s first encounter with Naga, Asami interacting with her mother, and Korra and Asami guiding Jinora as she begins to learn more about what defines her as an individual.

Your favourite characters from Team Avatar and beyond are here in this collection of stories, from the heartwarming to the hilarious. Some of them are are flashback stories like Korra meeting Naga, a short story about Asami and her mother, and a story about young Tenzin. Weaver's Ball', another fun story about Korra as the young Avatar in training; 'Clearing the Air', about a young Tenzin, and Aang; and 'Cat-Owl's Cradle', the final and longest story, about Meelo and Bumi (Lin Beifong cameos). Clearing the Air" - Tenzin relates the tale of a fight he had as a youngster, and what the confrontation helped him discover about his Air Nomad heritage. There’s a general slice-of-life feeling to most of the comics here, even when there’s more action than you might expect that works for the different stories being told.

Very disappointed as it didn't really add anything to the lore, although the Asami back story was very well written.

There's 'Friends for Life', with Korra as a little kid in the snowy Southern Water Tribe, where she first meets Naga the polar bear dog; then 'Skyscrapers', another adorable tale, and a touching moment, about kid Asami and her mother; then 'Wisdom'; 'Lost Pets', a good Meelo (and Korra) yarn; 'A Change in the Wind', about Korrasami, and Jinora's development (such beautiful art in this one!The stories feel very rooted in the energy I associate with Legend of Korra, which tends to be fun adventures and humor mixed with moments that reflect character growth or introspection. The books' stories are the first comics in the franchise to include references to the Chronicles of the Avatar novels, such as mentioning the in-universe book Poems of Laghima (known from The Rise of Kyoshi) and Avatar Szeto (whose name and life story were given in The Shadow of Kyoshi). I loved it so much and couldn’t stop myself from squealing at every different story in the anthology.
