About this deal

He then goes on to describe his “aha” moment when he realises that he needs to make a change in his life. One of the most interesting books on minimalism, Goodbye, Things is Fumio Sasaki's story of owning less. It’s about rethinking the common assumptions of today to find satisfaction and fulfillment tomorrow.

I do like thinking about it as a philosophy, because I think ‘philosophy’ can encompass all those things. The book also explores the tiny house movement and how to be a minimalist by effective steps such as decluttering your house. It reads more like a collection of thoughts from a good friend than an advice manual, but it will make readers think hard about their own lives and what they give time and attention to. Essentialism takes a step back to think about what truly matters and changes our minds for the better. However, this book is a mishmash of autobiography and tips for a minimalist life and unfortunately, I didn’t find the autobiographical parts particularly stimulating.

I did quickly look at their blog, and it seems like nothing has been published since they released the guided journal extension for this book in 2020.Perhaps moments, days, and years go by without you stopping to ask yourself, Am I living out my true purpose?
