I especially like how Laney is introduced to us, through Liz’s gaze, and then we as readers get to decide how we feel about her. Liz’s mother died a few years ago and one of the things that I think this book does really well, was her grief. Liz and Wes were truly the stars of this one, their bickering and their affection for each other moved the story forward and I was always so curious to know where their story would go. The obvious comfort she has with Wes over the awkwardness and often embarrassing moments that populate her attempts to connect with Michael force her to reassess her ideas of what romance looks like – and what a relationship looks like.He teeters between abject disgust for his human prey, desperation, madness, and a terrifying blankness behind his eyes. Well I, for one, am glad he didn’t, because I don’t want to go to any party that those guys are having.
