I started with the masterpiece that is berserk, read attack on Titan, chainsaw man, a couple Junji Ito stuff, and other stuff that kept me entertained for a couple hours before I ended up dropping it. I won't go into spoilers, but given the nature of this manga (in which to expose or reveal the cruelty of human nature), I'd say characters behaving in certain ways are justifiable. Some characters are upfront nasty, but others are more cunning, and they are able to trick us into being on their side. Once we know their backstories, we feel some catharsis even when they are gruesomely disposed of in their own game or by their own flaws. Even though you have a decent idea of how the story might end, the author still manages to keep your interest consistently.During the flashbacks of the MC, the MC and his then-still-alive girlfriend are braindead, whilst the girlfriend's father has the most unpractical solution to deal with the MC because he didn't aprove of him dating his daughter. Among the group are college-goers Yumi and Reiji, cabaret performer Akane, occultist salaryman Yukitoshi, factory worker Toshio of punk persuasion, unemployed Taichi, and nine-year-old Michika. Although there are only 6 chapters translated in English, the Chinese version had all 50 chapters translated, and I'm lucky that Cantonese is my first language.

The only part of the story that caught me off guard was the plot twist at the end, which was actually pretty clever As it turns out the timer was completely pointless. On the other hand, as for the story, probably the author thought he had a big galaxy brain moment by comparing the sins of the characters to poison running through their veins and influencing their behavior. whole countdown which gives us a cool sense of progression, I liked the character backstories that fit in with and make sense of their ridiculous personalities, I liked the different interactions, relationships and betrayals developed between the characters, I liked how the plot progressed, I liked the artstyle from how realistic the backgrounds are to how expressive the characters could be when overwhelmed by emotions, I liked the whole poisonous insect folklore thing. Overall I gave this manga a 3, it wasn’t really that enjoyable but seeing the gruesome deaths was something to look forward to.
