About this deal

MR600 has no bridge mode, so if you're like me and intending on connecting it directly to your gateway (either as primary or secondary), then you have to jump through hoops.

So a mast can effectively have 5 different carriers on it with separate radio gear and they all share the same pipes of "available bandwidth" so to speak?? My understanding is getting the bandwidth "into the air" is more of a challenge than providing it. Most well specified masts will have multiple gigabit connections, some will have 10 gigabit. The 5G rollout will need 10 gigabit connections. Still, maybe you’ve already got the Huawei B535 WebBox and are wondering whether there’s any need to upgrade, or maybe you’re considering buying it from elsewhere. In either case, our review can help you decide. This slim white rectangle comes in at 219 x 138mm and has a grey stand, slightly contrasting the colour of the box itself. There are a number of small lights along the front, showing you at a glance the router’s status, but that’s about as close as it gets to any kind of design flair. Setup But there’s more than just speed here, asthe Huawei B535 supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands. This is another fairly standard thing in routers, but not always found in 4G ones, especially older models. Features and softwareHad a firmware update for my B535 a couple of days ago and i'm now unable to change bands manually with the different software/apps that are available. Just a heads up should you want to turn auto update off if you have a B535 from Three. Here’s where things get a bit more complicated, as while the Huawei B535 WebBox is a good performer by 4G router standards, it’s no match for a 5G router or many wired connections. And the actual speeds you get will in large part depend on your coverage. In your situation I would not recommend enabling B1 as it sounds like there is a chance that it would choose to sit on 3G rather than B3 4G. If you are not getting any signal with B3 either than that would suggest you're only able to receive B20 - if so, the speeds for that are likely to be very low - you don't say what speeds you are able to achieve so can't be certain. Three don't own any spectrum on B7 (EE and Vodafone are the only providers with that spectrum) - forcing this will lose connectivity if using a Three SIM.

The Three 5G Hub is sure to be more expensive, but there you’re getting even higher speeds if you have the coverage. Conclusion The MR600 ran faultlessly for over week while I worked from home - video conferences never dropped. The kids can game on both PS4 with voice chat and the Nintendo Switch which is notoriously fussy given the P2P nature of its online service. I watched Solo on Disney+ which it says is 4K and YouTube usually defaults to 720p. Jameshas been writing for us for over 10 years. He specialisesin smartphones, mobile networks/ technology, tablets, and wearables. As such, the WebBox won’t look out of place in most homes, and at 219 x 130 x 15mm it won’t take up too much space either. Setup Interestingly the MR600 is cat 6 and the B535 is cat 7, so realistically (depending on antenna quality) the B535 "should" provide a better, faster, connection. I suspect the certificate error may be connected to my changing the LAN IP from 192.168.8.1 to 192.168.0.1 as that's when I first noticed the problem. We’ve mentioned three of the main alternatives elsewhere in this review – the Three 5G Hub, the Three 4G Hub, and the 4GEE Home Router 2. The first of those is only worth considering if you can get a 5G signal, while the other two tie you to Three and EE respectively.
